David Beckham performs immediate U-turn after forgetting favourite goal he's ever scored

David Beckham hilariously forgot he had scored one of the best goals in Premier League history when in discussion with Gary Neville.

The Manchester United legend scored some incredible goals during his career, but arguably his best came when he was first breaking into the Red Devils team back in the late 1990s. Beckham famously scored from inside his own half away at Wimbledon after noticing the opposing keeper was off his line.

But despite the goal making him a household name at the time, he clearly doesn't remember it with the same fondness as many United fans still do.

Appearing on The Overlap, Beckham was asked by Neville about his favourite goal he scored during his career, and had no hesitation. He instantly replied: "Greece. The goal against Greece at Old Trafford."

Few could begrudge Beckham for picking that particular strike, considering it sent England to the World Cup finals in dramatic style in their final qualifying game.

The Three Lions had struggled until that point, and went into their final qualifying match needing a draw to make it to Japan and South Korea. They were losing 2-1 in the 93rd minute when Beckham curled a 25-yard free kick into the top corner in style.

Neville was left perplexed by Beckham's immediate answer and seemed shocked he had forgotten the goal against Wimbledon. He quickly replied: "Not the halfway line one, no?"

At that point the pair burst into laughter as Beckham joked: "Actually I forgot about that one! Yeah, that one. We'll say the halfway line one." Neville then replied: "The halfway line goal put you on the map though, didn't it?" To which Beckham agreed.
