David Beckham has hailed Sir Bobby Charlton as the man who started his football journey in a moving tribute to Manchester United legend.

The club icon has been commemorated over the past week, with United heroes past and present praising his career, character and life. Beckham outlined his admiration for Sir Bobby at the 2023 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony where he paid an emotional tribute to the United and England legend.

It comes as United have now confirmed plans for Sir Bobby's memorial service, with fans certain to pay their respects. And the plans have confirmed they will have the opportunity to do so at Old Trafford - with the procession to Manchester Cathedral set to go past the United stadium.

Beckham has said he owes Sir Bobby Charlton 'everything' after paying an emotional tribute to the club legend at Monday night's Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in Paris.

Charlton, who made 758 appearances for the Reds, died on October 21 at the age of 86. The club continued to pay its respects to the former captain ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby against City at Old Trafford.
