Darren Moore's message to his Sheffield Wednesday players after Wycombe disappointment

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has backed his side to return to winning ways ahead of their play-off chasing crunch match against Fleetwood Town in midweek. Wednesday suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, with the latter leap frogging Moore’s side into the top six as a result.

And while Saturday’s defeat stung Moore, the Wednesday boss has told his players that he wants to see a reaction on Tuesday when they travel to take on relegation battling Fleetwood Town.

“I told the boys we can’t afford to let the disappointment of this game affect us because on Tuesday we’ve got to react in the right manner,” explained Moore following the Wycombe loss.

“We know what we’ve got to do on Tuesday. We’ll regroup, recover and then we’ll get planned and detailed for Tuesday’s game.”

The loss to Wycombe also ended Wednesday’s chances of finishing in the League One automatic promotion spots, meaning they will need to win their remaining two games to secure a place in the play-offs.

A win against Fleetwood on Tuesday would see Moore’s side jump back into the top six ahead of the final day of the season, where they take on Portsmouth at Hillsborough. Fleetwood sit in 20 th place in League One and have won just three times since the turn of the year.

But despite the two sides operating at different ends of the table, Moore is expecting to come up against a fighting Fleetwood side who are battling for their lives.

“It’ll be a different game [against Fleetwood],” added Moore.

“What we’ve got to do is make sure that we’re focussed, we’re detailed which our players will be. They will be about that on Tuesday.
