Darren Moore reveals update over Sheffield Wednesday summer transfer plans

Sheffield Wednesday missed out on a promotion straight back to the Championship from League One this year – and with the boss eager to ensure they don’t miss out again next season, the manager has revealed to the club’s official YouTube channel that he is already getting to work on potential transfer dealings.

The Owls have been up and down over the course of the League One season but when it mattered, they soared towards the top end of the division and were able to seal a play-off spot and a potential tilt towards promotion.

They couldn’t seal an automatic spot but booked a place in the play-off semi-finals against Sunderland. However, the club were unable to see off the Black Cats and were duly dumped out of the competition and out of the running for a promotion.

Darren Moore will not want to suffer a similar fate next season and will no doubt have plenty of names in mind that he wants to sign this summer. The club cannot afford to merely stand still and let others overtake them in the promotion battle and that will mean the manager seeking out plenty of transfer dealings and keeping the squad refreshed.

It seems as though he has already gotten to work in bringing players in and holding talks too, with Moore revealing to the club’s official YouTube channel that he has held ‘positive talks’ already and that the club will ‘try their best’ to land the right kind of player and bring them to Hillsborough.
