Darren Moore outlines ‘big thing’ that has pleased him with his Sheffield Wednesday side

Darren Moore revealed his delight that his Sheffield Wednesday side continued their excellent form at Hillsborough yesterday with a 4-1 win against Cheltenham.

The Owls are pushing for promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt, with results on their own patch having been crucial to that.

The Robins were the latest side to come up short in Yorkshire, as Moore’s men came from an early goal down to record what was a comfortable victory in front of their own support.

And, speaking to Yorkshire Live, the boss explained why the confidence the team have at Hillsborough is massive.

“The big thing for me was continuing our home form in front of our own fans. That’s five home games and 18 goals scored. There was a real belief in the team at half-time even though it was 1-1.”

That victory means they have picked up more points than any other side in League One at home, with 44 of their 69 points having come on their own turf.

They are back in action when they host Wimbledon next weekend.

The verdict

With many promotion rivals not playing yesterday, it was crucial that Wednesday picked up three points, and they did it in style in the end.

So, Moore is right to be very pleased with his team and the fans will feel the same way, as the team are playing very well at home and are scoring plenty of goals.

Now, it’s about continuing this until the end of the season, as they still have a lot of work to do to finish in the play-off places and then win promotion.
