Darius Olaru to Rangers transfer addressed by Steaua Bucharest chief as midfielder gets open door with one caveat

Steaua Bucharest owner Gigi Becali insists the club will only sell Darius Olaru after their Europa Conference League playoff with Viking FK as he addressed links with a move to Rangers.

It's been a busy summer for Gio van Bronckhorst as he put his stamp on the Ibrox dressing room with a host of new recruits, however things have went quiet in terms of incomings with no new arrivals since Ridvan Yilmaz was unveiled last month. The attention has turned to trimming The Light Blues' squad with the likes of fringe men Jack Simpson and Glenn Middleton heading out of the club.

However, more deals could still be on the way with the potential for an influx of Champions League group stage cash as Rangers prepare for the playoff shoot-out against PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands next week. Reports in Romania suggest that Olaru is on the Ibrox radar this summer, with the 24-year-old previously being told he can leave the club if the right offer comes in.

The Romania cap is key to FCSB as they look to reach the Conference League this summer, and Becali was quick to play down any exit talk with his focus on group stage football. When asked about a potential £5million offer from Rangers by Pro Sport , he said: "Who wants to give this money? Rangers?

"I am not discussing Olaru now. An offer may also come today from Real Madrid, from Barcelona and offer me anything. I don't argue. Olaru is not for sale now.

"From Friday we resume the discussions, let's see how we will be then. But for now, no one is leaving, no one is coming.

"Let us get into groups and then we will discuss differently. Maybe a player will leave, but I will certainly bring reinforcements so that we can face it on all levels."
