Dante Polvara admits Aberdeen FC left ruing Bojan Miovski no goal but leaves no excuses for Hearts dismay

Dante Polvara admits Aberdeen’s disallowed goal in their defeat at Tynecastle was a real boot in the Bojans.

Teammate Miovski thought he’d given the Dons a priceless lead against Hearts after curling a stunning effort beyond Zander Clark. But the North Macedonian was denied a peach as VAR clocked a trip on Beni Baningime in the build up and Barry Robson’s men found themselves all square again. The Jambos took full advantage, scoring twice after the break through Jorge Grant and Lawrence Shankland to leave Robson on the brink.

“Of course, if that goes in …” Polvara rued. I felt like we were playing well at the time. To be fair, when that decision goes against us, it’s easy to go into a bad rhythm. But I thought we still maintained control throughout that first half despite the decision. It’s a great finish. Of course it is bad luck but you have to do more obviously.

‘“Sometimes, the odds are stacked against you. It feels like with some of those things there’s not much you can do sometimes. But if there’s a foul, there’s a foul, right? You’ve just got to keep going and find a way to get another one.

“It’s tough. If you go one-nil up away and are playing well, if you keep that going to half-time, the feeling is then very different. Then you concede a penalty a few minutes into the second half. They are very different situations.

“I wasn’t too sure what it was being checked for. I’d seen a boy trip up. From what I saw, I thought it was his own player. I couldn’t really see exactly where Bojan was.

“Their centre half was claiming there was a foul by Bojan earlier. There seemed to be a few vague shouts. I’m not too sure what came to be the decision. I thought it looked clean at the time but again I don’t have eyes on
