Danny Schofield on making tweaks and his 'open' management approach at Huddersfield Town

Danny Schofield has spoken about the style of play he wants to implement and the small tweaks he will make to game preparation in his new role as Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach.

The 42-year-old replaces Carlos Corberan, who, to the surprise of many, resigned as manager of the Terriers after a largely successful campaign last season, which saw him take the club to the Championship play-off finals. Corberan was something of a mentor for Schofield, with the two first linking up at Leeds United’s academy, and it was the Spaniard who promoted the former Town player to a first-team coaching role with the Terriers in 2020.

Now, in his first opportunity to manage at the senior level, Schofield can implement his own philosophy at the club. He says he has already made small tweaks to training and is working closely with all the different departments to slowly introduce his playing style.

“There have always been processes here at the club,” said Schofield. “In terms of the different sports science, physio and analysis departments which I have had a big part in working with recently.

“I will tweak, I will add, sessions will look slightly different. It is all about reflecting on things, what has gone well and why, and what can we improve on moving forward. These are the two questions that I constantly ask myself. We’re going to play in a very similar style to how we have done; we are going to be very attack-focused, and it is going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
