Danilo to Rangers triggers Feyenoord fright as diehards fear transfer gaffe if star's Ibrox dream comes true

A vocal section of Feyenoord of supports believe selling Danilo to Rangers would be a transfer misstep from the Eredvisie champions.

The 24-year-old was a key member of the Arne Slot's title winners who got the De Kuip rocking with his 10 goals earning acclaim despite being unable to establish himself as regular starter in the league. He featured more regularly in the Europa League and his form has caught the eye of Rangers. Michael Beale watched an opening bid being knocked back but Record Sport revealed the Brazilian has his heart set on heading to Ibrox next season.

Feyenoord are understood to want in the region of £6.5million for Danilo, however, diehards who follow Slot's side aren't convinced the striker should be sold as they aim to back-up their title win with more glory. Writing on the revered fan blog FR12, a leading poster said: "It's a pity Danilo is being rejected by many and is being put down In my opinion he is a professional and still scored 10 goals (in Eredivisie) with about 30 per cent of the total playing time, is well in the group, plays the Slot football of chasing and team pressure... what's the problem?! I also think our Mexican hero is good but with more playing time 'only' has five goals more. That's not an extreme difference."

Others backed up that viewpoint and reckon the forward is an underrated aspect of a squad which has designs of making an impact on next season's Champions League. But the verdict was not universal with another leading voice among the support offering a differing take.

It read: "The way Gimenez moves compared to that is much more targeted, isn't it? I'm not saying here that Danilo has to leave or he can't do anything about it, I think that's heavily exaggerated myself.
