Danilo breaks Rangers injury silence as star has emotional message for worried fans
Luckless Danilo has thanked Rangers fans for their support as he gets set for another painful spell on the sidelines.
The Brazilian had been installed as Philippe Clement's number one striker after returning from a serious facial injury sustained earlier in the season which kept him out from mid-August to late October. He started Rangers' 1-0 win over Hearts during the week but was forced off with a knee problem midway through the second half.
And fans awaiting news on the extent of the injury were left disappointed when Clement on Friday revealed he will be without him until after the winter break. It's another setback for the £7m striker who has not had much luck on the injury front but judging by his latest social media posts, he's keeping positive.
Sending an emotional message to fans, Danilo wrote: "Out of necessity not able to do what I love the most for a period of time. I will support the team from a distance for the upcoming games. For now I need to focus on healing my knee and getting back as soon as possible. Thank you all for the concern."
Clement also lost Tom Lawrence to a fresh injury as the beleaguered boss said earlier on Friday: "Tom will be out until the winter break. Danilo will be out also. So that's not so good.
"We will not get them before the winter break. It was an unlucky situation (Danilo's), it happens in football. Because of the contact, he had an issue with his knee afterwards."
