Daniel Ricciardo: F1 drivers show how loved he is at Belgian GP

Daniel Ricciardo has endured a difficult time at McLaren, experiencing some unreal highs, but plenty more dark lows. Ultimately, his lack of consistency has cost him his seat for next season, with the Aussie looking elsewhere to continue his career in Formula One.

The Australian really has struggled since leaving Renault, not being able to take the McLaren team to where they wanted to be, underperforming considerably, especially considering his teammate, Lando Norris more often than not is the better performer.

Rumour has it that they are going to be announcing Oscar Piastri as his replacement, teaming up with Norris for a new look, young driver lineup from 2023 onwards.

Saying that though, McLaren’s best moment for the last decade came via Ricciardo who guided the team to a 1-2 finish at Monza last season, their only win since 2012, so he clearly is leaving his legacy on the team.

That result also meant that Zak Brown had to get a tattoo of the famous Italian circuit on his arm due to a deal struck between him and The Honey Badger when joining McLaren if he managed to win a race for the team.

The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa was the first race weekend for Ricciardo since the announcement of his split from his current employers, with it a difficult weekend all round for the team.
