Daniel Cormier: Will UFC Hall of Famer face Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel?

Daniel Cormier is not expected to face Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel, despite rumours to the contrary.

Over the weekend, Ariel Helwani announced that Cormier will be involved with WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view on October 8.

The UFC Hall of Famer will serve as the special guest referee for the Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle, leading to speculation that he’s going to be working more with WWE moving forwards.

Helwani reported that Cormier will be the special guest referee for the highly-anticipated match this weekend, and fans have speculation that this could open the door to DC having an in-ring run with WWE.

And after their confrontation at UFC 226 in 2018, fans are of the belief that Cormier could work with Lesnar could he come into the WWE as an in-ring competitor.

With Crown Jewel taking place on November 5, and Brock without an opponent for the show, rumours have circulated this weekend that the two former UFC stars could square off inside a WWE ring.

While fans have learned to “never say never” when it comes to the wacky world of WWE, reports from Dave Meltzer suggest it’s unlikely that Cormier v Lesnar happens next month.

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that he doesn’t suspect the match will happen next month, via WrestleTalk.

There’s people who are speculating maybe he and Brock do their match. I don’t know. I think if he wants to do pro-wrestling at this stage of his life, and my gut is that… I don’t know. I don’t thinkhe wants to. I haven’t talked to him about this in so long, years.
