Brock Lesnar WWE return: Surprising reason why Triple H brought him back

WWE only brought Brock Lesnar back to Raw on Monday because of the plans Triple H had for Bray Wyatt.

Brock returned on WWE Raw this week, for his first appearance since July, to attack Bobby Lashley.

The pair are now believed to be building towards a second match at Crown Jewel next month after their first in January at the Royal Rumble.

The end of Extreme Rules saw Bray Wyatt, as had been heavily rumoured, make his return to WWE.

Many fans, as you'd expect, tuned into Raw expecting to see an appearance from the former WWE Champion, but that didn't happen.

Instead, WWE just played a video package for Wyatt, promoting that he'll be appearing on SmackDown later on that week.

However, Andrew Zarian of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Brock was brought to Raw by Triple H as a way to make it up to the fans who expected Bray to be there, as you can see below.

USA network and WWE are both very happy with the direction of Raw. Lesnar returning on the show felt like a “make good” to many at USA for not having Bray on Raw following the buzz from Extreme Rules. https://t.co/q2MieiJjNr

The report also notes that the USA Network is very happy with the ratings for Raw over the last few months, which have been up since Triple H took over from Vince McMahon in July.

The thinking, if the report is accurate, definitely makes sense. WWE didn't want to have fans feeling disappointed, so decided to have Brock return when they knew Bray wouldn't be heavily featured on the show.

As noted, Brock's return will set up Lesnar v Lashley II, which will almost definitely be taking place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 5.
