Dana White laughs off any chances of Conor McGregor rematching Floyd Mayweather

Dana White doesn’t see the point of a rematch between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

The former five-weight world champion, 45, retired with a 50-0 record after beating the UFC superstar in 2017.

McGregor, who was making his boxing debut, fought valiantly before he eventually ran out of steam.

However, the Notorious still received plenty of plaudits for his herculean effort, despite the one-sided nature of the fight.

And, according to a report from FightHype.com, the pair ‘are currently in talks for a potential rematch’.

It claims that Mayweather will secure himself another “nine-figure payday” if he can strike a deal with McGregor’s representatives – with the latter claiming that they may have already reached an agreement.

But White has moved to firmly deny those rumours by insisting that his next fight is guaranteed to take place in the Octagon.

During an appearance on The Jim Rowe Show, White said: “Not me, I’m not talking about that.

“Conor’s return will be in the cage. Conor’s looking to come back the end of this year, early next year.

“When I do talk to Conor, Conor wants to fight.

“Conor gets all kinds of offers for movie roles and all these other things that he could go and do and make money.

“He doesn’t want to do any of that. Conor wants to fight. When he fights, he gets paid.

“Fighting is what he wants to do.”

McGregor meanwhile has resumed training on his road to recovery following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Irishman was forced to undergo surgery after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier last July.

But he is apparently ahead of schedule with all signs currently pointing towards a return to competition in the latter half of 2022.
