Cyclist in hospital after horror attack by three men armed with knives

A man is in hospital after being attacked by a trio with knives in the early hours of yesterday morning (April 6). Police are now searching for three men in connection with the incident.

Police were called to Liverpool Road, Eccles, near to the junction with Barton Road just after 12.30am to reports a cyclist had been threatened with knives. He was then knocked off his bike, according to police.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence for a few hours after the incident. Police have now confirmed that a man in his 30s remains in a stable condition at hospital after sustaining head and arm injuries during the attack.

GMP are now appealing for information to find the three men connected with the incident. It is believed this was a targeted attack.

A force spokesman said: "Officers were called to a report of cyclist threatened with a bladed weapon and knocked off his bike on Liverpool Road in Salford just after 12.30am today (6 April 2022). A man in his 30s is received head and arm injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition. Two males made off from the scene."
