Cycling Federation lauds Fasema’s record-breaking ride

The Nigeria Cycling Federation (NCF) has commended the exploits of Nigerian cyclist, Samuel Fasema, who rode from Lagos to Maiduguri and back to Lagos, saying the feat not only promotes peace but also promotes the enormous benefits of the sport in the country.

Fasema’s 19-day bicycle ride covered a distance of 3,776.03 kilometres.

Explaining his decision to embark on the journey, Fasema said that he rode for peace and unity, against drug abuse, and for renewed hope this year, adding that the ride to Maiduguri was his second adventure having embarked on such a journey in 2024 to Benue State.

The cyclist, who arrived in Lagos last week, was joined by teammates, led by the Chairman of FT Cycle Care Cycling Club, Femi Thomas, at Berger, where they rode through Ojota, Anthony, Palm Groove, Stadium, CMS, Third Mainland Bridge and terminated at the club’s office in Fadeyi to the warm embrace of families, friends and well-wishers.

Fasema who has a passion for cycling was delighted by the support and praise received from people after the cycling journey.

Commending Fasema for his historic feat, Thomas, who is also a member of the Nigerian Cycling Federation Board, highlighted the need for corporate bodies to join forces with the Federation to discover more talents in the sport.
