Crystal Palace set to fend off interest from Tottenham and Monaco to sign emerging EFL star

According to Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel, the 18-year old will complete his move to Selhurst Park on Friday.

The youngster broke through at Pride Park under difficult circumstances last season, but performed well and caught the attention of high profile clubs.

Ebiowei played 16 times in the Championship, scoring once and assisting two as the Rams suffered relegation to League One.

The winger was one of several young players who came through as Wayne Rooney utilised the academy at a time when senior players were leaving due to the club’s financial difficulties.

But the starlet thrived when given the opportunity and earned his big moment when he scored his first goal in senior football against Blackpool in a 2-0 win last April.

Palace themselves have made a habit of signing young, exciting talent from the EFL in recent years, having signed Ebre Eze, Michael Olise and fellow Derby man Luke Plange, among others.

Patrick Vieira’s side finished 12th in the Premier League in a promising first season for the Frenchman in charge of the club.

This is an exciting next step for Ebiowei in his career, with Palace proving in recent years that they are willing to offer top flight experience to young players.

It remains to be seen whether he will stick with the first team squad for next season, or if a loan move will be sought.

But a pathway to Premier League football is available at Selhurst Park, which may not have happened at the likes of Spurs.

Ebiowei has shown the potential to become a top talent and has earned a big move away from Derby in League One.
