Crystal Palace: 'Really good signs' for £18m star after huge setback

Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze ‘played like people know he can play’ in the recent victory over Everton, according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge.

The 23-year-old has endured a difficult campaign as he’s continued to work his way back to full fitness but finally appears close to returning back to his best.

Eze moved to Palace from Queens Park Rangers in August 2020 via a £20 million deal following an outstanding campaign for the Championship outfit.

In 46 league appearances throughout 2019/20, the technically gifted talent registered 14 goals and eight assists, catching the eye of several Premier League sides.

It was the Eagles who won the race for Eze’s signature, though, and he managed to carry his impressive form into the top-flight, racking up 10 goal contributions in 34 games for the south London outfit.

However, the youngster suffered a serious Achilles injury last May, just as he was due to be called up to Gareth Southgate’s preliminary England squad for Euro 2020.

The issue ruled Eze out of action until 27th November when he made his comeback as a substitute against Aston Villa, yet he has to remain patient for his first start.

Eze didn’t feature from the off until Millwall hosted Palace in their third-round FA Cup clash on 8th January, and the youngster’s performances have been slowly improving ever since.

Despite being in and around the first-team fold for several months now, Eze is yet to complete a full game this season and has been awarded just 376 minutes of action across all competitions.
