Crystal Palace: 'Brilliant' Selhurst Park addition could be 'signing of the season'

Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher has been one of the signings of this Premier League season, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The £22.5m-rated midfielder has flourished during his loan move from Chelsea, establishing himself as a key player under Patrick Vieira.

When the 22-year-old made the switch across London, his only experience of top-flight football was on loan at a West Brom side that were relegated last season.

But Gallagher hasn’t performed like a player who only had a small sample of Premier League football to his name.

It took him just three games to get his first goals for the Eagles, scoring a brace to secure a 2-2 draw at West Ham in August, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Gallagher has scored and assisted goals against the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham, and in the derby against Brighton, in what has been a breakout campaign for the youngster.

Such are his performances, Gallagher was rewarded with his first England call-up, cap and then start last month. Fitting in like with his recent rise, the midfielder grabbed the man of the match award in the Wembley victory over Switzerland.

Across all competitions, he’s scored eight goals and laid on five assists, which is an impressive return for someone playing in just their second season at this level.

Therefore, Bridge has described the Eagles man as one of the standout signings this campaign.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If he’s not the signing of the season, he’s in the top five, he’s just brilliant. He’s on the verge of starting for England for me, he’s been such a brilliant loan signing for Crystal Palace.”
