Crystal Palace: Big update on Patrick Vieira's relationship with Odsonne Edouard

There’s no ongoing issue between Odsonne Edouard and Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Frenchman has been completely overlooked by Vieira in recent weeks and hasn’t started since the victory at Brentford in the middle of February.

Edouard initially made a bright start to his Palace career following his £14m move from Celtic last summer, scoring twice on his debut against Tottenham before netting against Arsenal.

He also scored against Liverpool this season, which came during a four-game spell in which he found the net three times earlier this year.

But since his strike in the defeat to the Reds, Edouard’s fallen out of favour under Vieira, who’s been favouring Jean-Philippe Mateta and even Wilfried Zaha as his lone striker.

As a result, Edouard has played just 83 minutes across Palace’s last seven games in all competitions and has been an unused substitute for the last three.

Even when Palace were chasing winning goals against Stoke and Burnley recently, the 24-year-old remained on the bench.

When Vieira was recently quizzed about his chopping and changing of the front three in recent weeks, he said: “I’m going to change regarding what I want from the striker and what I need from that game.

“Of course, I’m going to take into consideration the player’s form as well – how they have been training, how they play. There is competition and I will be fair to them about who I will choose to play.”

Despite Vieira comments, Jones played down the possibility of there being an issue between the two.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “From what I’m told, there’s no deep rift or problem between him and Vieira.”
