Crystal Palace: £25m move now 'picking up speed' at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira ‘really wants’ to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers creative midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and a Selhurst Park deal is ‘picking up speed’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Eagles are preparing for their second season under Vieira’s tutelage, following his appointment 12 months ago, and Gibbs-White could be drafted in to bolster their options.

Gibbs-White is back at Wolves after spending last season on loan with Championship side Sheffield United.

However, he may not be at Molineux much longer as the West Midlands club are willing to listen to offers after the 22-year-old has stalled on signing a new contract.

Wolves are understood to be seeking £25million for their academy product’s services and Palace are among his suitors.

According to 90min, the south Londoners have leapfrogged newly-promoted Nottingham Forest into pole position for Gibbs-White’s signature.

The report suggests Everton are also interested in the former England under-21 international, who won 10 caps.

Jones believes Gibbs-White is being viewed by Palace boss Vieira as a player of a similar mould to former loanee Conor Gallagher.

The transfer insider understands the Eagles could reach an agreement with Wolves in the coming days.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Palace see Gibbs-White as their new Conor Gallagher – a young player who can thrive in their set-up.

“Vieira really wants him and the deal has been picking up speed.”

Gallagher became a fans’ favourite following his season-long loan switch from Chelsea and contributed eight goals, along with five assists, in 39 Palace outings.
