Cristiano Ronaldo saga means Manchester United are missing two alternative striker targets

Cristiano Ronaldo asked to leave Manchester United after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Manchester Evening News understands that the club's stance remains that the Portuguese forward is not for sale and they expect him to be part of Erik ten Hag's plans this summer.

However things do not always work out the way that you would like, and if Ronaldo wants to leave there is not much that United would be able to do to stop him. This would leave Anthony Martial as the club's only central striker and that is problematic in a long season.

So United will need to sign another forward, the issue is that since he left it so late in the window to decide he wanted to leave, the options are limited. And given that Ten Hag needs players in other positions, investing in a striker might be seen as a waste if Ronaldo doesn't decide to leave.

But if Ronaldo does leave, United may be potentially losing two potential options to West Ham. According to reports on Monday, the London club are pursuing a deal for Chelsea's Armando Broja and Sassuolo's Gianluca Scamacca, both of which would be good options for Ten Hag.

Broja had a good loan spell at Southampton last season and although he didn't have the most best goals and assists output, he showed a lot of room for growth, given he is still only 20. Scamacca is a little older at 23 but he scored 16 goals in the Serie A last season.
