Cristiano Ronaldo: Man Utd star's new celebration copied by Benfica youth player
Last Sunday evening, Cristiano Ronaldo debuted a brand new celebration.
After scoring his 700th club goal to secure a crucial 2-1 win for Manchester United away at Everton, the Portuguese superstar ditched the famous ‘Siuuu’ for something a little bit different.
Ronaldo stood by the corner flag with his eyes closed and his fingers crossed in front of his chest, with summer signing Antony copying him.
So, why did Ronaldo opt for a new celebration at Goodison Park after reaching such a historic milestone?
Well, Manchester United have explained exactly why in an article posted to the club’s official website.
The unique celebration was in fact a self-depreciating private joke between Ronaldo and his United teammates.
Ronaldo’s actions on Merseyside were a tribute to the position in which he sleeps when travelling with the squad, which the rest of his colleagues have picked up on.
Fair play, Cristiano.
