Cristiano Ronaldo: Man Utd star apparently leaves stadium before end of match
Cristiano Ronaldo apparently left Old Trafford before the final whistle after returning to action for Manchester United against Rayo Vallecano.
Ronaldo had missed the entirety of United’s pre-season to date with reports that he wants a move away from the club.
The club cited ‘personal reasons’ for Ronaldo’s continued absence.
But as the Red Devils hosted Rayo Vallecano in their final friendly of pre-season, Ronaldo returned to action.
The Portuguese superstar was seemingly given a good reception when he first emerged out of the tunnel to warm up at the Threatre of Dreams.
Ronaldo played the first 45 minutes of the friendly before being replaced by Amad Diallo at half time – the only substitution Erik ten Hag made at the break.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner looked lacking in match fitness during his 45 minutes – perhaps not too surprising considering most of the players had already played several friendlies before this one.
His replacement, Diallo, opened the scoring within a few minutes of being on the pitch.
However, United finished their pre-season campaign with a draw after Alvaro Garcia equalised with half an hour remaining.
But whether Ronaldo saw the second half is up for debate.
That’s because it’s being claimed that he left the stadium before the final whistle.
Ronaldo was captured by fans walking away from Old Trafford with Twitter user @CantonaManc writing: “Not even waited for the final whistle.”
