Ronaldo is in in a group chat with Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who have been close friends for a while, as well as young prospects Anthony Elanga and James Garner.
He's regularly exchanged messages with his former teammates Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand but now the five-time Ballon d'Or is more immersed with his current colleagues even though some are almost half his age.
"Some of the younger players like to communicate via WhatsApp," a United insider told The Sun.
"They are never off their phones and regularly swap exchanges, send jokes and funny clips and chat about stuff like computer games, fashion trends and music.
"Ronaldo is almost twice the age of some of the members of the group and has four children and a pregnant fiance.
"His life is very different to the younger ones who are just starting in the game.
"Some are a bit star-struck by him but are really happy he's joined the group and are delighted he is messaging everyone and joining in.
"It makes him much more approachable, especially at a time when some of the younger members of the squad have been struggling with form."
Ronaldo's eldest child turns 12 soon but the Portuguese superstar revealed during a Q&A at the Al Wasl Plaza in Dubai that won't be getting a device just yet as he doesn't want him to be "obsessed with technology".
