Cristiano Ronaldo has been told what role he must play in Manchester United revival

Cristiano Ronaldo has been urged to give more back to the team so that the Manchester United dressing room can become harmonious.

Some supporters have suggested that the Portugal captain has stunted the progression of United and created unrest amongst the squad with his perceived negative attitude. Ronaldo, who is the club’s top scorer with 24 goals this season, was seen shaking his head in disbelief when Brighton knocked four past his side on Saturday.

After being cheered by fans post-match, he travelled separately from his teammates out of the AMEX Stadium. The disunity behind closed doors has seeped onto the pitch this season, and many want to see Ronaldo be the leader to pull the squad back together.

Cristiano Ronaldo separated himself from Manchester United teammates as much as the fans did at Brighton

One of those is former United defender Paul Parker. He suggested that Ronaldo should adopt a figurehead role in the dressing room, if he wants to take on such a responsibility.

Speaking to MyBettingSites: he said: “If he’s (Ronaldo) willing to give a bit back, there is a great chance that it could be a better unity in that Manchester United dressing room. If they (United) are going to keep him, he’s got to understand that he might not be playing regular football and when he does play, he’s gotta be nurturing people.”

Ronaldo had been tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League before seemingly indicating he was staying during a celebration against Brentford. However, questions were raised once again when he responded to claims that he said into a TV camera “I’m not finished yet” at full-time.
