Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba to start - Manchester United predicted lineup vs Southampton

Manchester United welcome Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Southampton have bad memories of their last visit to Old Trafford. Ralph Hasenhuttl's side lost 9-0 at Old Trafford last season, with United equalling the record winning margin in a Premier League match with an emphatic and utterly dominant display.

Such dominance for United again in this fixture seems highly unlikely. The Reds drew 1-1 against Burnley in midweek after Jay Rodriguez's strike cancelled out Paul Pogba's goal and they continue to underwhelm under Ralf Rangnick.

The target for United this term is to secure Champions League football and they can't afford to drop points at their current rate.

Southampton head into this match on the back of a 3-2 win over Tottenham and they promise to be tricky opposition.

But David de Gea might fancy his chances of recording a clean sheet and he'll be the first name on the team sheet on Saturday.

Luke Shaw delivered a more than respectable performance against Burnley and he can start again here. Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire seem certain to start in central defence together despite the latter continuing in his struggle for form.

Diogo Dalot has provided United's attacks with value at right-back compared to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and he'll start here.

Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba started in midfield against Burnley and, while United were lacklustre in the second half of that contest, Rangnick might start all three again at home to Southampton.

Fred has been ruled out of this match due to a positive Covid-19 test.
