Creetown recover from first league defeat with thumping win over Wigtown

Creetown recovered from their first league defeat of the season with a thumping 8-0 win over Wigtown at Stranraer Academy on Friday night.

Jamie Adams’ side were four goals up at the break thanks to a double from Harry Mitchell and goals from Josh Rennie and Robbie Murray.

Murray and Mitchell struck again after the break with the latter completing his hat-trick, with Shay Meagher and recent signing Adam Wilde also finding the net.

Adams said: “No disrespect to Wigtown but if we turn up we should be beating them – although they can make it hard for you if you don’t do the right things.

“It showed the difference to just going through the motions and I thought they were really good from start to finish.

“It was good to bounce back with not just a win, but a good win, as the loss to Dalbeattie was tough to take. “I thought the boys were brilliant for 40 minutes, we really had them where we wanted them and then a decision just changed the game, so it was tough.”

Friday night’s game also saw a return for Joe McMillan.

The forward is back at Castle Cary Park having already turned out for Threave Rovers and
St Cuthbert Wanderers this season.

Adams said: “Wee Joe was good on Friday night. I know what he can do, we’ve got a good relationship but it’s up to Joe what he wants to do.

“He’s been at too many clubs, he needs to just get his head down and play football. He’s a great wee player but there’s another side to his game he needs to look at it.

“It’s not just all about him, it’s a team game.”

Creetown are on their travels again on Saturday with a much more difficult prospect in store as they go to defending league champs Abbey Vale.
