Craig Brown funeral: Scottish football stars pay last respects to a legend of the game

Scottish football stars paid their final respects to former Scotland and Motherwell boss Craig Brown this afternoon as his remembrance service took place at Ayr Racecourse.

The venue flew flags at half-mast as a mark of respect, and the service was streamed live on the Scotland National Team YouTube channel for those who were unable to attend.

Those attending the funeral service included Brown's Scotland predecessor Andy Roxburgh, Archie Knox, Dick Campbell, Alex Miller, Tom Boyd, Jim Leighton and Willie Miller.

Brown passed away last month, aged 82, following a battle with illness, with tributes paid up and down the country, showing the wealth of respect he commanded in the Scottish game.

He is the last man to take Scotland to a World Cup finals, in France in 1998, and went on to manage Preston North End, Motherwell and Aberdeen.

Brown died in hospital in Ayr, and is survived by his two sons Hugh and John, and his daughter Val.
