Coventry City 2-2 Cardiff City: Bluebirds' winless run extends to five as late Torp penalty cancels out Robertson stunner
Cardiff City's winless run extended to five games after a 90th-minute penalty from Victor Torp earned Coventry City a 2-2 draw in Frank Lampard's first game in charge.
The Bluebirds' record now stands at one win in seven, but they were so close to nicking a vital three points at the CBS Arena after Yakou Meite's early goal and Alex Robertson's second-half stunner.
But Calum Chambers' handball in the dying moments allowed Torp the opportunity to level from 12 yards, meaning Cardiff took just one point away from the Midlands, which doesn't do them a whole lot of good.
Much of the focus and fanfare was on newly-appointed Sky Blues manager Lampard. The Chelsea legend was hopeful of getting off to a perfect start against Omer Riza, who himself had a point to prove after going four games winless heading into this one.
Given goals have dried up a little for Cardiff of late, Riza will have been glad for the way the match started. The interim boss had made some bold changes to the side which was defeat by QPR in midweek, with Meite joining Manolis Siopis, David Turnbull and Jamilu Collins, who has not played since September, in the starting lineup.
And the decision to bring in Meite looked inspired when, in the fifth minute, he stooped low to nod home Alex Robertson's outswinging corner. The Ivorian, who has received stick for his performances this season, immediately turned to the visiting fans before putting his finger to his lips and cupping his ears. A move that is unlikely to go down well with the Bluebirds supporters.
Especially because that high was so short lived. Coventry hit back just two minutes later when Tatsuhiro Sakamoto clipped a well-weighted pass over the top and in between Dimitrios Goutas and Perry Ng, but
