Couples celebrating Valentine's Day left shaken as high-end restaurant MUSU's windows are 'smashed' in

Couples celebrating Valentine's Day at a Manchester restaurant were left shaken after its window were "smashed" in.

The windows at MUSU - a high-end Japanese restaurant in Bridge Street in the city centre - were targeted yesterday evening (Wednesday).

The restaurant, which opened in November 2022, did not provide further details of what happened but an eyewitness described the incident as "a vicious attack".

Pictures shared on social media showed a number of smashed windows at the front of the restaurant. Shattered glass could be seen on the pavement outside.

MUSU said no one was hurt during the incident, and added that it was "working with the police to find out exactly what happened".

In a statement posted on X - formerly known as Twitter - MUSU said: "We were really shocked this evening when the restaurant windows were smashed in the middle of the Valentine's Day Service.

"The blinds were down and no one was hurt. But it was a shock for guests and staff alike. We are working with the police to try and find out exactly what happened.

"The restaurant may need to be closed tomorrow so that we can deal with the damage. So we will get in touch with anyone who has booked ASAP."

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further information.

Shortly after opening, MUSU received praise from a national food critic who described the restaurant as ‘pointedly bonkers’ after taking on its £110 seven-course tasting menu.
