Couple robbed at knifepoint on way home from work after being followed by three men

A young couple have opened up about their terrifying experience of being robbed after three men followed them after work.

Lea Stapleton, 20, and her boyfriend Sam, 21, were first followed by the men after walking by them on Grieve Street, Fazakerley, Merseyside, on Tuesday, November 28. At the time, the couple were pushing Sam's bike but were soon stopped by the assailants who threatened them with a knife and told them to hand over the bike.

The black Carrera HellCat featured blue writing and had an electric kit attached to it with black tape. Lea described the situation as traumatising and has made the pair paranoid whenever they go out together, Liverpool Echo.

She added: "We were traumatised. It’s really difficult going past the places we got robbed, and we are constantly looking over our shoulder. I have dreams about them coming back and actually using the knife.”

Enquiries have since been carried out by Merseyside Police to find the three men involved in the incident. Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “This would have been extremely distressing for the victims and an investigation is underway to find those responsible.

“We are determined to get knives off our streets and reducing knife crime in Merseyside is a priority for our force all year round."

Lea and Sam have said they will give a reward for anyone who can return their stolen property.
