"Could possibly see it" - Journalist drops Tottenham transfer verdict involving 137-goal star

Tottenham making a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele this summer is a possibility, believes journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Dembele has one year left on his contract, and while O’Rourke feels forwards will be hesitant to join Spurs because of the presence of Harry Kane, he can still see the north London club trying to sign the Frenchman.

If reports from France are to be believed, then Dembele could be returning to England in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato, the former Fulham man was watched by both Manchester United and Arsenal during the 2021/22 season.

The same outlet also states that Tottenham have an interest in Dembele, so a move back to English football looks like it could be a possibility.

He really impressed in the recently-concluded campaign, scoring 22 goals to take his senior career tally to 137.

O’Rourke would not be surprised to see Tottenham make a move for Dembele, though he thinks they could struggle to lure him to Hotspur Way because of Kane.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “You could possibly see it. Obviously, they’re being linked with a number of strikers, but the problem is for these strikers, are they happy to come and play second fiddle to Harry Kane?

“Not many of the top strikers would be willing to do that unless Antonio Conte is planning to change his formation.”

If they can get him, Dembele could be a very smart purchase by Spurs. Given his goal record, he should be able to provide adequate cover for Kane, while his contract situation means he should not cost that much money.
