‘Could fit in nicely’ – Cardiff City secure transfer agreement for 26-year-old: The verdict

The 26-year-old forward arrives at the club on loan for the rest of the season from Middlesbrough.

This signing is an attempt from Cardiff to try bolster Steve Morison’s attack following the loss of Kieffer Moore to Bournemouth.

Here, our FLW writers share their thoughts on this move…

I am glad to see that Uche Ikpeazu has got a decent Championship move, as he certainly has the ability and desire to operate at second-tier level.

I personally think he will be an excellent signing for the Bluebirds and will somewhat fill that physicality void that Kieffer Moore has left.

His power and ability to link up with other forwards and attackers, both make him a different kind of option for Steve Morison, whilst his work rate and intelligence when pressing also stand out.

He may have to bide his time slightly, but he certainly has the potential to emerge as a regular starter as the season progresses, with a strike partnership of Ikpeazu and Jordan Hugill a frightening prospect for defenders.

With Kieffer Moore’s departure to Bournemouth, Cardiff needed a physical presence up-front to replace the Wales international.

Whilst Jordan Hugill gives that somewhat, he can be prone to losing aerial challenges despite his size – they should have no problems in that sense with Ikepazu though.

Ikpeazu may not guarantee goals with just two in the Championship to his name this season and six for Wycombe in 2020-21, but his ability to hold the ball up will be key to Cardiff getting results in the second half of the season.

Chris Wilder actually gave Ikpeazu somewhat of a chance when he arrived at the Riverside a few months ago with a lot of substitute appearances, so he must rate the 26-year-old somewhat.

But he was never going to get in
