Corrie's on-screen family head out to celebrate 'Dame Nanna' with glasses of fizz

Coronation Street's very own blended family headed out for some fizz this week.

Alan Halsall, Jennie McAlpine, and Jamie Kenna whisked Maureen Lipman out for a celebratory meal after she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours.

But due to coronavirus restrictions, it wasn't until October last year that the iconic actress was able to collect her damehood at Windsor Castle from Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.

And it appears the Corrie actors, who are best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs, Fiz Stape, Phill Whittaker, and Evelyn Plummer were finally getting round to celebrating.

The first images showed the foursome smiling for the member of staff taking the photo for them.

"Scroll through to see that Maureen finds me HILARIOUS (truth is she’s probably laughing at @alanhalsall Who’s in the mirror!)," Jamie continued as the follow-up snaps showed Maureen laughing while holding up a glass of fizz as Jamie pointed at her plate which said: "Congratulations Dame," in chocolate with a mini pud.

"Sometimes on a job, you make proper friends, how lucky am I that it’s these cats!!" the Phill actor continued to gush.

"Thanks for having me @coronationstreet I’m having a blast!!"

Alan also shared one of the more posed images with his own thousands of followers.

The soap star said: "Oh what a knight!! A toast to 'Dame Nanna'.
