Coronavirus infection rates continue to plummet in Greater Manchester - by as much as 40 per cent in one week

Coronavirus infection rates have continued to fall in every area of Greater Manchester.

All ten of our boroughs are below the national average for England.

Trafford has the highest infection rate across the region, narrowly ahead of Stockport.

Infection rates fell in many areas by 30 per cent week-on-week, with Bolton experiencing the largest decrease in weekly cases, a fall of 44 per cent.

A total of 8,467 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 14.

In the week ending on February 13, a total of 425 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 113 fewer than the week before, a fall of 36 per cent.

On Tuesday February 15, there were 27 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

In the week ending February 14, a total of 35 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 41 fewer than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 891,122 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,717 deaths.

In Bury 507 people tested positive, 350 fewer than the week before.

That decrease represents a fall of 41 per cent, with the town's infection rate standing at 265.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Cases fell in Bolton by 44 per cent week-on-week. A total of 756 cases were recorded, 605 fewer than the seven days prior.
