The latest coronavirus infection rates rise in every single Greater Manchester borough

Covid-19 rates have risen in every single borough in Greater Manchester, the latest statistics show.

Stockport remains the hotspot for the virus of the ten districts of the city-region.

The borough recorded a rate of 288.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 4, according to the up-to-date data from the UK Health Security Agency.

However, despite the rises, all of the boroughs are below the England average of 349.7.

The lowest infection rate is in Rochdale, where the rate is 153.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 212.9 cases per 100,000 population.

A total of 6,036 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 4. The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 743 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was up 14 percent in the last week.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 27, a total of 308 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is ten fewer than the week before, a fall of three percent

On Tuesday March 1, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is 10 fewer than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending March 4, a total of 23 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 1 fewer than the week before.
