Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank asks 'please help' as he's supported over move

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has asked fans to 'please help' as he made a move to help support a charity close to his heart. The actor is known for playing Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap and fans were recently overjoyed to see the character marry boyfriend Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash.

But it's no secret that there are tough times ahead for the newlyweds. Paul was given the devastating news that he has Motor Neurone Disease, a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Fans have been watching the emotional storyline unfold for months and it's been revealed that Paul will be facing his last Christmas this year.

And while there have already been difficult scenes, and more to come as Paul's deterioration with the disease, in real-life, Dan has unfortunate knowledge on MND after his grandfather was diagnosed with the disease before his death and therefore the soap star has been doing all he can to raise awareness as well as funds for the MND Association.

On Monday (October 30), Dan took to Instagram to make a plea to his followers. Sharing a photo of himself and Peter taken when they were filming Billy and Paul's church wedding, the 43-year-old set up a fundraiser with the MND Association to which people can donate.

He said: "The lovely Peter Ash & I are currently playing out an MND storyline. The MND Association do incredible work & rely very much on fundraising to help find a cure for this cruel disease. My grandfather sadly passed away from MND so this is a charity very close to my heart.
