Coronation Street's Simon Gregson says 'my heart breaks' as he shares personal family update

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has said his 'heart breaks' as he shared a personal family update. The actor took to social media with a photo of one of his teenage sons.

Simon, who is famed for playing Steve McDonald in the ITV soap, is a proud dad to his three sons - Alfie, 16, Henry, 13, and six-year-old Teddy - whom he shares with his former Hollyoaks star wife Emma Gleave.

And it was Alfie who was the subject of his dad's latest social media post as the soap star had sneakily snapped a picture of him while he was outside. The photo showed him sat on top of his football in the winter darkness while checking his phone.

Simon explained in the caption of the post: "My boy since 4 yrs old dreaming of playing football for a living. [He] plays for three teams trains every day and night and no one has seen him my heart breaks every day." (sic)

The post has since been flooded with messages from those who are facing or having been in similar situations as well as some just trying to offer words of support. @kerryberry_73 said: "Ian Wright wasn't spotted until he was 21. Never give up hope."

@mariepickering78 commented: "Feel the same as you. My lad is so talented age 17, plays for 2 teams, trains, runs, goes to gym to keep fitness levels up such a hard job to get scouted now a days. best of luck to your boy." @evoke_erotes wrote: "He’ll be recognised for his skills and talent, no doubt, until then I really hope he’s enjoying every second of the process. Cause that’s the part that matters."
