Coronation Street's Peter Barlow a 'loose cannon' as fans given 'gift' during Super Soap Week

Coronation Street's Peter Barlow has been described as a 'loose cannon' and fans are apparently in for a 'gift' during Super Soap Week as the director behind what's to hit screens has teased what's to come.

It's been just over a year since Todd Boyce reprised the role of Stephen in the ITV soap 15 years after he was last seen on the famous street, and 26 years after making his debut in the role of Audrey Roberts' son. And it'd be fair to say that Corrie fans have been hoping to witness Stephen's demise.

Well, they haven't got long to wait as with first victim Leo Thompkins' body having been found and questions being asked, Stephen thinks he's figured out who caught him down by the canal, fishing around for the car roof box he dumped with Teddy's dead body inside.

And it's not long until Stephen's reign of terror reaches a dramatic climax on the cobbles. Whether he escapes justice or finally pays for his crimes, one thing is for sure actor Todd is finally bidding farewell to Stephen and Corrie, leaving shock and devastation in his wake.

Teasing what's to come, director David Kester told the Manchester Evening News and other press during a recent event: "The first thing, it's just one story throughout the whole week which is really unusual. It's not something we often do.

"Also, for Super Soap Week it's unusual to not have it set around one massive stunt or a whole sequence of stunts [but] this week is one big thriller. It's all about the characters."
