Coronation Street's new 'bad boy' Luca Toolan shares how news about soap job came on 'difficult day'

Coronation Street's new 'baddie' has been unveiled as Luca Toolan as he's set to make his debut as Mason. His arrival comes as the ITV soap is set to is set to tackle the issue of bullying at school in a new storyline that will unfold on screens this autumn.

The Manchester actor joins the cast as Weatherfield High's Year 11 bad boy Mason. Viewers will first be introduced to Mason in Monday night's episode of Corrie (September 11) as one of the students who was making fun of Ruby Dobbs which led to older sister Hope confronting Mason, Dylan Wilson and Liam Connor.

It doesn’t stop there though as things are set to get worse when Mason quickly takes Dylan, played by Liam McCheyne, under his wing and targets Liam, the son of Maria Windass and her late partner Liam Connor, as their new victim.

Viewers will be left wondering if Dylan will realise how dangerous Mason’s influence is before it’s too late. However, we do know that in the coming months, Mason’s torment of Liam will escalate, setting not only the pupils but the parents against each other with Sean, Maria and Gary pointing the finger of blame at each other's sons.

Luca's role in the soap was actually revealed last week by his dad, Mike Toolan, who radio listeners may know for his current role on Hits Radio drivetime show with Gemma Atkinson. He shared pictures of his son appearing to have a great time on the famous, Salford-based street with Dylan actor Liam.

The pair could be seen posing on the cobbles outside the iconic Roy's Rolls while another snap showed them getting cosy with Liam Connor actor Charlie Wrenshall.
