Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd admits backstage struggle as on-screen sister Tina O'Brien begs 'stop' as it 'breaks my heart'

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has shared the struggle behind some of the most emotional scenes he has ever acted out in the ITV soap. The actor, famed for playing David Platt, was reminded of the moment his character cradled his dying wife in heartbreaking scenes.

Back in 2016, David had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to Kylie Platt, played by Paula Lane, following a tragic stabbing on the cobbles. Kylie had just announced her family's plans to move to Barbados to live with her sister, Becky, after she killed ex Callum Logan as he was attacking sister-in-law Sarah.

But her excitement about the move was interrupted when she noticed her friend Gemma Winter being assaulted by the teenage Clayton Hibbs, a former acquaintance of Callum and the son of David's now-wife Shona. Kylie ran over to help Gemma but was horrifyingly stabbed in the chest by Clayton who fled the scene.

"7 years today David lost Kylie," the caption simply read with a broken heart emoji.

The comments were quickly flooded with praise for actors Jack and Paula for the portrayal of the heart-wrenching scenes which they branded "award-winning" and a "masterclass" which left Jack commenting: "Very sad. Lovely comments guys thank you."
