Coronation Street legends reunite as Charlie Lawson weds with Alison King a bridesmaid and Simon Gregson best man

Coronation Street favourites Alison King and Simon Gregson took on two very important roles as their former co-star tied the knot. The pair were among the special guests at the wedding of former ITV soap star Charlie Lawson and his long-time partner Debbie Stanley.

And it was quite the star-studded affair as Eamonn Holmes, a close pal of the groom for more than 30 years, acted as the officiator, while many of Charlie's Corrie pals also made an appearance.

The actor, who played Corrie’s Jim McDonald from 1989 until 2000, revealed to OK! Magazine that he and his now-wife Debbie officially got married at Macclesfield Registration Office two weeks before the big day so that former This Morning star Eamonn could do the service.

Charlie, 64, and Essex-born Debbie, 59, who works for a domestic violence organisation, have been together for 22 years and tied the knot at Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa in Cheshire, a Georgian stately home near Macclesfield.

The couple had 68 guests at the ceremony – including Debbie’s daughter Sophia and grandsons Reuben and Noah – and a further 200 showing up for the post-wedding party. Simon, who plays Charlie’s on-screen son Steve McDonald in Corrie, was best man, while Alison, much-loved for playing Carla Connor, was one of Debbie’s eight bridesmaids.
