Cork City cup clash off as Storm Betty approaches
Cork City's FAI Cup clash with Waterford has been postponed after the Turner's Cross pitch failed a second pitch inspection on Friday.
An orange weather warning was issued earlier by Met Eireann for the south of Ireland due to Storm Betty's imminent arrival in Cork and neighbouring counties.
A statement from the FAI confirmed the news just over two hours ahead of the scheduled kick-off.
"The Football Association of Ireland can confirm this evening's Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup fixture between Cork City and Waterford has been postponed amid the Orange Weather Warning issued by Met Eireann," said the statement.
"The pitch has not been deemed playable following a second pitch inspection at Turner's Cross.
"Details of refixed game will be announced shortly. All tickets remain valid for the new fixture and further information can be attained from the point of sale."
