Cork City boss Colin Healy: The referees are 'killing' us

Cork City manager Colin Healy has lashed out at the officiating in the League of Ireland, saying that referees were "killing" his team in their heavy defeat away to Bohemians in Dalymount Park on Monday evening.

Reduced to 10 men after Ally Gilchrist's sending off on the half hour mark, Cork were crushed 5-0 by the league leaders, Jordan Flores setting the ball rolling with a first half free kick with Ali Coote scoring a couple in the latter stages.

While the Cork manager deemed Gilchrist's sending off as "harsh", he was particular fuming at the failure of the ref to play an advantage 10 minutes in, pulling the play back for a free when the visitors were bearing down on goal.

"It's not the sending off, it's the other one before it. We were in on goal and they blow it up. It's a disgrace," Healy told RTÉ Sport's John Kenny afterwards.

"We had it last week against Shels, we should have had a penalty. We're getting nothing.

"We had a sending off. They're saying Ally kicked out. It's hard enough to come up here to Bohs to play with 11 players, but down to 10, it's very difficult.

"I think it was a bit harsh. The referee didn't give it. The lino (linesman) on our side gave it, and it's a fair distance to see it from there."

The floodgates only properly opened late on, Coote scoring twice in two minutes around the 80 minute mark before James McManus rounded off the night five minutes later.

Healy said later on that the scoreline was exacerbated by his side's need to chase the game late on.

"Yes, we get beaten 5-0. We tried to go for it the last 20 minutes and they picked us off. Okay, that's fine.

"We're down to 10 players. Bohs are a good side, they're top of the table. It's always going to be difficult.

"The referees are f***ing
