Copenhagen manager makes admission over Erling Haaland ahead of Man City game

Copenhagen manager Jacob Neestrup has admitted that stopping Man City striker Erling Haaland is just one of his worries as his side prepare to face off against Pep Guardiola's side.

The Danish outfit travel to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night for a Group G clash in the Champions League, with City strong favourites for the tie after winning their opening two matches against Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund.

Neestrup's men will have to find a way to deal with prolific striker Haaland when the two sides meet. The Norwegian frontman registering 17 goals in just 11 appearances for the reigning Premier League champions since his summer switch from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland has scored three hat-tricks for City already this term - the most recent of which came in the 6-3 derby win over Manchester United at the weekend.

While the Copenhagen boss is understandably wary of the 22-year-old, he also admitted that his side have to be aware of the other 10 City stars on the pitch.

"He [Haaland] is obviously one of the best strikers in the world at the moment, if not the best, and we will do what we can to limit his possibilities," said Neestrup.

"But there are also 10 other players we will need to be aware of. They are one of the best teams out there.

"People talk about their big names but I am more impressed by them collectively. They are really well-coached and well-organised. I don’t need to tell the players that this is a world-class team."

The 34-year-old coach was appointed manager of the Danish champions last month following the sacking of Jess Thorup, who was dismissed despite leading Copenhagen back to the Champions League for the first time
