Copa del Rey UK TV deal agreed as Barcelona, Real Madrid and La Liga giants sign broadcast partnership

The Copa del Rey and La Liga's beloved El Clásico will be shown exclusively live on Premier Sports after a new TV deal was agreed.

Fans of Spanish football now have a feast of action to look forward to later this month, starting when Barcelona host Atletico Madrid on February 25. A day later Real Madrid are in cup action as they take on Real Sociedad in the other semi-final, with the second legs and 26 April showcase to decide who claims the silverware all now live on Premier Sports.

The broadcaster, who hold the rights to games in the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup, already hold the rights to La Liga matches - and have now ensured that they can offer unrivalled coverage of some of the game's biggest stars, include Real's Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona hotshot Lamine Yamal.

Last season Athletic Bilbao defeated Mallorca to lift the historic trophy for the 24th time, but they won't have a chance to defend their crown when the final is played this year at the Cartuja stadium in Seville in April. Meanwhile the broadcaster has also confirmed that the final El Clásico match of the season will be broadcast live and exclusive on their channel on the weekend of May 11 with exact time and date yet to be confirmed.

Giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently locked together on points at the top of the league and the game could prove vital in an engrossing title race. Atletico Madrid meanwhile remain just a point adrift, with a three way battle for the crown looking like going all the way.
