Continental Europe hold edge as Seamus Power and Shane Lowry fall short on day two at Hero Cup
Continental Europe have extended their advantage over Great Britain and Ireland to two points after the second day at the Hero Cup, with Shane Lowry and Seamus Power involved in defeats in both of their foursomes matches.
The continental contingent led 3-2 after Friday's fourballs, which had seen Power impress, and continued to hold the edge on day two as they stretched their lead to 8.5 to GB & Ireland's 6.5 after both of Saturday's foursomes sessions.
HERO CUP DAY 2 RESULTS
Lowry and Power teamed up for the morning foursomes against the duo of Guido Migliozzi and Victor Perez.
But the Irish pair fell short as their Italian and French opponents led throughout after going one up on the second hole, before going four up by start of the 11th, and then ultimately winning 3&2.
Lowry was alongside Tyrrell Hatton for the afternoon foursomes but they were beaten by Sepp Straka and Thomas Detry who finished one up.
Meanwhile, Power's pairing with Robert MacIntyre ended in a defeat as Perez and Migliozzi reprised their combination from the morning to good effect, winning 2&1.
