Harrington climbs to fourth as Perez wins in Abu Dhabi

Padraig Harrington fired a superb 67 to finish fourth at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, though it was France's Victor Perez who took home his third DP World Tour victory at Yas Island.

Meanwhile, it was a miserable Sunday for Shane Lowry, whose round tailed off badly after he briefly led on the front nine.

Perez survived a nervous finale to win by one shot after a shooting a six-under-par 66 in his final round.

The Dundee-based Frenchman began his final round one shot adrift of Lowry, Francesco Molinari and Australia's Min-Woo Lee.

Having established a two-stroke lead with four successive birdies between the 8th and 11th, Perez appeared to be wobbling slightly with a dropped stroke at 14 before finding the bunker at the tricky short 17th hole.

With Min-Woo Lee, Harrington and Sweden's Sebastian Soderbergh nipping at his heels, the Frenchman proceeded to hole out from the bunker, celebrating wildly with his caddie.

It looked unassailable before he found another bunker and then the penalty area on the 18th but he took his medicine with a bogey to finish on a victorious 18-under-par total. Lee and Swede Sebastian Soderberg finished tied for second after shooting 68 and 67 respectively.

It was a third DP World Tour win for Perez, after previous victories at the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Championship and the 2022 Dutch Open.

"It's a great year ahead, there's a lot of big things coming up, I've had a good off-season, I've worked really hard. It's just great," the tearful Frenchman told Sky Sports after winning.
