"Conte type player" – Journalist drops big Tottenham transfer verdict on £18m "hard worker"
Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi is an “Antonio Conte type player”, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Conte’s side have made an impressive start to the Premier League season, but they’re still hoping to bring in more reinforcements before the window closes.
Spurs have enjoyed an excellent transfer window, bringing in seven new players, which has helped them collect seven points from their opening three top-flight fixtures.
But The Athletic believe that with youngster Bryan Gil expected to depart, Conte still wants to sign another attacker before next Thursday.
And reports in Italy believe that Atalanta midfielder Malinovskyi could be that man. According to TuttoAtalanta.com, Tottenham are in pole position to sign the Ukraine international, who’s valued at £18m by the Serie A club.
The report claims that Spurs are interested in a loan deal with either an option or obligation to buy, although Atalanta would prefer a permanent transfer.
Malinovskyi scored against AC Milan on Sunday night and has established himself as a goalscoring midfielder during his three seasons in the Italian top-flight.
Offering versatility, which has seen him play in midfield and further forward more than 100 times in his career, and a keen eye for goal, Taylor reckons he would work well playing under Conte.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s a kind of Conte type player, a hard worker. He can play in multiple systems.
“Atalanta are an exciting team, they play good football, they play attractive football, expansive football, but they’re also a hard working team that have become a tough nut to crack, on the basis of, they’re not really anywhere near the size of some of the top Italian clubs.”
